English comedian. His first single, ‘Funky Moped/Magic Roundabout’ was a UK top 5 chart hit in 1975. His stand-up show was adapted into the television series An Audience With Jasper Carrott in 1978. He went on to star in his own series Carrott's Lib (1982; Bafta Award) and Carrott's Confidential (1987–88) and in the sit-coms The Detectives (1993–97) and All About Me (2002–04). He hosted the game show Golden Balls (2007–09). Birmingham culture is a common thread in his routines and sketches.

Carrott was born in Birmingham. In 1969 he opened The Boggery, a folk music club, and though he began his career as a folk singer, his witty remarks soon took over his act. He received a British Comedy Awards Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.
